What it does
Five rewriting principles guide the process: keep the main storyline and character relationships unchanged, turn narrative prose into visualized scene description, let dialogue rather than narration carry the plot, keep each scene to roughly 30 to 60 seconds for short-video pacing, and leave out camera language such as shot size or angle, which belongs to a separate storyboarding step.
The output format uses a scene header line such as a scene number with its interior or exterior setting and time of day, a plain action paragraph with no camera terms, and dialogue written as a character name followed by a state or expression and the line itself. A formatted script runs about 20 to 30 percent longer than the source, mostly from the added headers and dialogue formatting rather than genuine expansion, and the workflow reads the original script, analyzes its mix of dialogue and narration, rewrites it, checks the result, then saves it.
