What it does

Resource Bulk Import is an agent skill from aztfmod/terraform-provider-azurecaf. Accept a list of Azure resource types, batch-research each via azure-naming-research conventions, generate JSON entries, and insert all into resourceDefinition.json. Triggers on: batch resource addition, bulk import requests.

Its SKILL.md is about 480 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. It is a single SKILL.md file with no bundled scripts.

It sits in DevOps & Cloud. It works with Microsoft Azure. The repository describes itself as: Terraform provider for the Terraform platform engineering for Azure. The licence is MIT.

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit ac74615. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

    Shell commands in SKILL.md call:

    • go
    • make

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

    No URLs in SKILL.md.

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

Context cost

Resource Bulk Import loads about 476 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 62 tokens; SKILL.md has 136 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~62
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~476

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

Resource Bulk Import

Procedure

1. Accept resource list

The caller provides a list of resource type names (e.g., azurerm_container_app, azurerm_container_registry).

2. Filter out existing resources
bash
for RESOURCE in <list>; do
  if grep -q "\"name\": \"$RESOURCE\"" resourceDefinition.json; then
    echo "SKIP: $RESOURCE (already exists)"
  else
    echo "ADD: $RESOURCE"
  fi
done
3. Batch research

For each resource to add, follow the azure-naming-research skill procedure:

  1. Look up CAF abbreviation
  2. Look up Azure naming rules
  3. Derive field values

Collect all results before making any edits.

4. Generate JSON entries

For each researched resource, format the JSON entry following the resource-definition-json skill format rules. Present all entries to the user for review:

## Proposed Resources (<count>)

| # | Resource | Slug | Length | Scope | Dashes | Lowercase |
|---|----------|------|--------|-------|--------|-----------|
| 1 | <name> | <slug> | <min>-<max> | <scope> | <yes/no> | <yes/no> |
...
5. Insert all entries

After user confirmation, insert all entries into resourceDefinition.json:

  • Maintain alphabetical order by name
  • Ensure proper comma separation
  • Use 4-space indentation
6. Build and test once

After inserting all entries, run a single build/test cycle:

bash
go generate
make build

This is more efficient than building after each individual insertion.

7. Report
## Bulk Import Complete

Added: <count> resources
Skipped: <count> (already existed)
Build: PASSED / FAILED
Tests: PASSED / FAILED
