ab-create-roadmapTurn a larger idea into a dependency-ordered roadmap of tasks — the layer above create-task.
Ab Create Roadmap is an agent skill from ayoubben18/ab-method. Turn a larger idea into a dependency-ordered roadmap of tasks — the layer above create-task. Use when the work is several distinct tasks with real ordering between them (schema before API before UI), and you want the whole task graph drawn before implementing. Producer only; ab-start-roadmap executes it.
Its SKILL.md is about 540 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. It is a single SKILL.md file with no bundled scripts.
The repository describes itself as: A workflow system for Claude Code and Codex. It grills a problem into a domain-grounded plan, then either drives it through test-driven missions you review one at a time, or… The licence is MIT.
2 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 85946e3. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
Shell commands in SKILL.md call:
npxFrom the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md. Its commands use npx, which can reach the network depending on how they are called.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Ab Create Roadmap loads about 539 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 81 tokens; SKILL.md has 244 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
The full file from ayoubben18/ab-method at commit 85946e3, republished under its MIT licence (© ayoubben18). 244 words, ~539 tokens.
.claude/skills/ab-create-roadmap/SKILL.md (or your agent's skills folder). This skill runs the AB Method create-roadmap workflow.
Follow the workflow defined in .ab-method/core/create-roadmap.md exactly — it contains the decomposition grill, the roadmap.md format, the dependency-graph rules, and the per-task planning-prompt process.
Before doing anything, check .ab-method/structure/index.yaml. It defines where roadmaps and tasks are stored and how they reference each other (the relationships section). Paths are user-configurable; never hardcode them.
Locating .ab-method/. Every .ab-method/... path — here and inside the workflow files — is resolved in this order:
<project>/.ab-method/... exists, use it. A project's own .ab-method/structure/index.yaml is how it customises its paths, so it always wins — check for it even when the bundled copy is right there.npx ab-method), read the bundled copy: ../../../.ab-method/ relative to this SKILL.md.The bundled copy is read-only reference material. Every path the index or a workflow names (docs/..., CONTEXT.md, UBIQUITOUS_LANGUAGE.md, ...) is relative to the project root — never to the folder the bundled files live in. Never write inside that folder.
Key points: grill the idea once to draw the task DAG (coarse tasks, no missions); write docs/roadmaps/<name>/roadmap.md as the roadmap-level source of truth; hand back a /create-task prompt per task in dependency order (foundational first), recommending a fresh session each and warning about context bloat if planning inline. Do not execute — ab-start-roadmap does that. ab-create-task is roadmap-aware and keeps roadmap.md in sync automatically.

Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Ab Create Roadmap needs the command-line tools its instructions call (npx). Our summary lists: Node.js.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Its commands use npx, which can reach the network depending on how they are called. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Ab Create Roadmap is published under the MIT licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 539 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 2.2k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
