What it does

Graph Search is an agent skill from athola/claude-night-market. Searches the code knowledge graph by function, class, or type using FTS5 full-text search. Use when locating code entities by name or qualified path.

Its SKILL.md is about 560 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. It is a single SKILL.md file with no bundled scripts.

It sits in Knowledge Management, covering Knowledge graphs and Search implementation. The repository describes itself as: 23 Claude Code plugins: TDD enforcement hooks, git/PR workflows, spec-driven development, code review, project lifecycle, fix-from-error, maintenance automation, context… The licence is MIT.

Example prompts

  • “Use the graph-search skill to search the code knowledge graph by function, class, or type using FTS5 full-text search”
  • “/graph-search”

Requirements

  • Python 3

Workflow steps

4 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.

  1. Accept query: Get the search term from the user.
  2. Run the query script
  3. Display results: Show qualified name, file path,
  4. Offer to read: Ask if the user wants to read the

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 9f3eb00. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

    Shell commands in SKILL.md call:

    • python3

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

    No URLs in SKILL.md.

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

Context cost

Graph Search loads about 555 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 41 tokens; SKILL.md has 252 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~41
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~555

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

Search Code Knowledge Graph

Search .gauntlet/graph.db for code entities by name.

When NOT To Use

  • The graph is missing or stale (use gauntlet:graph-build)
  • Scoring the impact of a change (use pensive:blast-radius)

Steps

  1. Accept query: Get the search term from the user.

  2. Run the query script:

    bash
    python3 ${CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT}/scripts/graph_query.py \
--action search --query "<term>" --limit 20

    Optional filters:

    • --kind Function to search only functions
    • --kind Class to search only classes
  3. Display results: Show qualified name, file path, line numbers, and relevance score for each match.

  4. Offer to read: Ask if the user wants to read the top result's source file.

Query Intelligence

The search engine detects query patterns:

  • PascalCase (e.g., UserService): boosts Class and Type results
  • snake_case (e.g., get_users): boosts Function results
  • Dotted path (e.g., app.models.User): boosts qualified name matches

Prerequisites

The graph must be built first. If .gauntlet/graph.db does not exist, suggest running the graph-build skill.

Exit Criteria

  • If .gauntlet/graph.db does not exist, the skill surfaces the missing-prerequisite error and suggests gauntlet:graph-build rather than failing silently
  • Results display qualified name, file path, line numbers, and relevance score for each match (up to --limit results)
  • Query intelligence applies correct boost: PascalCase boosts Class/Type results, snake_case boosts Function results, dotted path boosts qualified name matches
  • User is offered to read the top result's source file after results are shown
  • A count: 0 result is reported as "not in the graph" only after graph_query.py --action status shows node_count above zero. An unbuilt graph, or one built without tree-sitter, answers every query with zero, and that zero says nothing about the codebase
