codex-delegationDelegates tasks to the OpenAI Codex CLI (codex exec) via delegation-core.
Codex Delegation is an agent skill from athola/claude-night-market. Delegates tasks to the OpenAI Codex CLI (codex exec) via delegation-core. Use when delegation-core selects Codex or OpenAI credentials are already configured.
Its SKILL.md is about 930 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. It is a single SKILL.md file with no bundled scripts.
It sits in Agent Workflows. It works with OpenAI. The repository describes itself as: 23 Claude Code plugins: TDD enforcement hooks, git/PR workflows, spec-driven development, code review, project lifecycle, fix-from-error, maintenance automation, context… The licence is MIT.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 9f3eb00. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
Shell commands in SKILL.md call:
codexnpmuvmakeFrom the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md. Its commands use npm and uv, which can reach the network depending on how they are called.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names these keys or tokens, usually read from environment variables:
CODEX_API_KEYOPENAI_API_KEYFrom names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Codex Delegation loads about 934 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 44 tokens; SKILL.md has 392 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
The full file from athola/claude-night-market at commit 9f3eb00, republished under its MIT licence (© athola). 392 words, ~934 tokens.
.claude/skills/codex-delegation/SKILL.md (or your agent's skills folder).OpenAI's Codex CLI ships as npm @openai/codex and installs a codex
binary. Its headless entry point is codex exec, which takes the
prompt as a positional argument and reuses saved CLI credentials.

Either persist an API key or log in interactively:
printenv OPENAI_API_KEY | codex login --with-api-keyVerification runs codex login status, which reports one of "Logged
in using an API key", "Logged in using ChatGPT", "Logged in using
Agent Identity", or "Not logged in". The service uses that probe
rather than checking a single variable, because either credential
path is valid and only the probe sees both.
CODEX_API_KEY scopes a credential to a single codex exec run.
uv run python scripts/delegation_executor.py codex "Explain this module" \

qwen, minimax, glm and muse in the candidate order. It declares no
model ids, so smart_delegate leaves model selection to the CLI.

Login caveat worth knowing before scripting this: an open issue
(openai/codex#9253) reports that codex login fails outright on
headless hosts, over SSH or in containers, unless a workspace
administrator has separately enabled device-code auth. That is a
single reporter's account with no maintainer confirmation, but it is
the failure mode to check first when codex exec will not run
unattended. Persisting an API key beforehand avoids it.

Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Codex Delegation needs the command-line tools its instructions call (codex, npm, uv and make) and credentials named CODEX_API_KEY and OPENAI_API_KEY. Our summary lists: Python 3; Node.js; A credential in OPENAI_API_KEY; A credential in CODEX_API_KEY.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Its commands use npm and uv, which can reach the network depending on how they are called. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Codex Delegation is published under the MIT licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 934 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 3.7k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
