What it does

Table Fit is an agent skill from asgeirtj/system_prompts_leaks. Keep a Markdown table readable in a narrow terminal of about 100 display columns - a wide table or one carrying prose in its cells wraps into unreadable ragged rows. Always call readskill for bundled:table-fit before emitting a Markdown table in a final answer, and load it as soon as the answer starts forming as a comparison, a mapping, a feature matrix, a pros-and-cons, an options rundown, or a per-item summary across several dimensions. Do not load it for a table already inside a file being edited, for code…

Its SKILL.md is about 770 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. It is a single SKILL.md file with no bundled scripts.

It sits in Testing & QA, covering Test data and fixtures. The repository describes itself as: Documented system prompts from Anthropic - Claude Fable 5.1, Opus 5.5, Claude Design, Claude Code. OpenAI - ChatGPT GPT-6-Astra, Codex. Google - Gemini 3.8 Flash, 3.1 Pro… The licence is CC0-1.0.

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 60d44cc. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md.

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

    No URLs in SKILL.md.

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

Context cost

Table Fit loads about 772 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 170 tokens; SKILL.md has 334 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~170
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~772

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

Table Fit

The answer is read in a terminal about 100 display columns wide. A table wider than that wraps every row, and wrapped rows lose the column alignment that made the table worth using. So a table only pays for itself when it stays narrow.

Two budgets, both hard:

  • At most 4 columns. The label column counts as one.
  • Every cell a short phrase. Never a sentence, never prose.

If the content fits both, use the table. If it does not, do not shrink the font of the problem by abbreviating into unreadable shorthand, and do not let the table run wide. Switch shape instead.

When the content will not compress

Use one of these instead of a table. Neither is a lesser answer; for prose-heavy content they are the better one.

A list — when each item needs a sentence or two:

- **tokio** — the default. Widest ecosystem, work-stealing scheduler, heaviest
dependency tree. Pick it unless you have a specific reason not to.
- **smol** — small and readable. Fewer integrations, so you write more glue.

Short per-item headings — when each item needs several dimensions covered in prose:

### tokio
Maturity: production-default across the ecosystem.
Tradeoff: large dependency graph and a heavier compile.

### smol
Maturity: stable, much smaller surface.
Tradeoff: fewer ready-made integrations.

Choosing

Count the dimensions the answer actually needs, then look at the longest value any cell would hold.

  • 4 or fewer dimensions, all values short phrases → table.
  • More than 4 dimensions → drop the least useful ones to reach 4, or use per-item headings.
  • Any dimension whose values run to sentences → list or per-item headings, even if there are only two columns.

A mapping with short values on both sides — a key to its meaning, a type to its size, a flag to its effect — is the case tables are for. Keep those as tables.

Do not

  • Do not measure or ask for the real terminal width. The budget is static. Width is per-connection and transient, and must not enter durable context.
  • Do not keep a table and simply truncate cells; losing the content is worse than losing the table.
  • Do not restate the table as prose underneath it. Pick one shape.
  • Do not add a table to an answer that did not need a visualization at all. A single fact, a one-step action, or a simple edit stays prose.

When should I use Table Fit?

Table Fit fits situations like: tasks that involve Test data and fixtures.

How do I install Table Fit in Claude Code?

Run `npx skills add asgeirtj/system_prompts_leaks --skill table-fit -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (Meta/muse-code/skills/table-fit in asgeirtj/system_prompts_leaks) into .claude/skills/table-fit in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.

How do I install Table Fit in Codex?

Run `npx skills add asgeirtj/system_prompts_leaks --skill table-fit -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (Meta/muse-code/skills/table-fit in asgeirtj/system_prompts_leaks) into .agents/skills/table-fit in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.

Can I use Table Fit in Cursor, Gemini CLI or GitHub Copilot?

Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add asgeirtj/system_prompts_leaks --skill table-fit -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/table-fit, .gemini/skills/table-fit, .github/skills/table-fit and .opencode/skills/table-fit in your project.

What does Table Fit need to run?

SKILL.md names no scripts, command-line tools or credentials: Table Fit is instructions for the agent only.

Does Table Fit access the network?

SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.

Is Table Fit safe to install?

Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.

What licence does Table Fit use?

Table Fit is published under the CC0-1.0 licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.

How many tokens does Table Fit use?

About 772 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 3.1k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.

What are the alternatives to Table Fit?

Skills that share tags, products or a category with Table Fit: New Designation Screening Test (lawve-ai/awesome-legal-skills, 847 stars), Fs Fixture (privatenumber/fs-fixture, 100 stars), Dev Tenant API (nightscout/nocturne, 139 stars) and Rsibench Data Factory (evolvent-ai/RSIBench-Data, 171 stars). The comparison table on this page puts their stars, adoption, token cost, safety result and licence side by side.

Who maintains Table Fit?

asgeirtj (a GitHub user) maintains it in asgeirtj/system_prompts_leaks, which has 69,280 GitHub stars. The repository holds 128 skills in this directory. The repository was last updated on October 10, 2026.
