What it does

SQL Review is an agent skill from Archive228/loopkit. Review SQL and ORM queries for correctness, safety, and performance before they ship.

Its SKILL.md is about 220 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. It is a single SKILL.md file with no bundled scripts.

It sits in Databases, covering SQL and ORMs and data access. It works with SQL. The repository describes itself as: 33 battle-tested skills + minimal .claude harness for any coding agent (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, Gemini CLI). The licence is MIT.

Example prompts

  • “/sql-review”

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 5ae033e. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md.

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

    No URLs in SKILL.md.

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

Context cost

SQL Review loads about 217 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 24 tokens; SKILL.md has 106 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~24
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~217

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

when_to_use
new query, a migration, an N+1 suspicion, a slow endpoint

SQL Review

  • Injection — parameterized, always. No string interpolation into SQL.
  • N+1 — a query inside a loop? Replace with a join or a batched IN.
  • Missing index — does the WHERE/JOIN/ORDER BY hit an indexed column? If not, the table scan will surface at scale.
  • Unbounded — SELECT with no LIMIT on a growing table; a JOIN that fans out rows.
  • Transactions — multi-write operations wrapped so a partial failure can't corrupt state.
  • Migrations — reversible (up AND down), and safe on a live table (no blocking lock on a hot table at peak). Output: each issue with the line and the rewrite. Show the EXPLAIN if performance is the concern.
