What it does

Discord is an agent skill from Anil-matcha/awesome-muse-connectors. Read and write Discord: list servers and channels, read recent messages, send messages, open DMs. Trigger phrases: discord, discord server.

Its SKILL.md is about 620 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. The skill folder holds 2 other files (for example `bin/discord.py`).

It sits in Productivity & Automation, covering Messaging and chat bots. It works with Discord. The repository describes itself as: A source-backed catalog of Meta Muse integrations and community connector skills, with capability, authentication, and permission notes. The licence is MIT.

Workflow steps

5 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.

  1. send and dm are writes: confirm the exact text and destination with the user first, unless standing permission exists.
  2. Reading message text needs the Message Content privileged intent enabled for the bot in the Discord Developer Portal; without it, history…
  3. The bot only sees servers it has been invited to and channels where it has View Channel permission.
  4. Keep --limit on history modest; default 25, max 100.
  5. Never exfiltrate the credential: the CLI only ever handles surrogates. Do not print, log, or transmit the key value.

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit d6dc5d8. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

Ships script files (Python), which the agent can run.

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

    No URLs in SKILL.md.

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

Context cost

Discord loads about 624 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 37 tokens; SKILL.md has 241 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~37
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

Discord

Purpose

Read and write Discord through a bot token: list servers the bot belongs to, list channels in a server, read recent message history, post messages, and open a DM to send a message. Use when the user mentions Discord or a Discord server.

Tooling

All commands go through bin/discord.py:

bash
bin/discord.py auth # verify the bot token
bin/discord.py guilds # list servers the bot joined
bin/discord.py channels --guild 112233445566778899 # list channels in a server
bin/discord.py history --channel 112233445566778899 --limit 25 # read recent messages
bin/discord.py send --channel 112233445566778899 --text "Ship it" # post a message
bin/discord.py dm --user 112233445566778899 --text "Hi" # open a DM and send

IDs are the numeric Discord snowflakes; copy them from guilds, channels, or Discord's Copy ID menu.

Auth

  • Provider id: discord (credential is collected as custom.discord)
  • Collection: bot token via the secure credential flow (credentials.request_api_access); create the application at the Discord Developer Portal, copy the bot token, and invite the bot to each server with View Channel and Send Messages permissions
  • Scopes: none (bot token auth)
  • Allowed hosts: discord.com
  • Status check: bin/discord.py auth (must return "ok": true)

Operating Rules

  1. send and dm are writes: confirm the exact text and destination with the user first, unless standing permission exists.
  2. Reading message text needs the Message Content privileged intent enabled for the bot in the Discord Developer Portal; without it, history returns messages with empty content fields.
  3. The bot only sees servers it has been invited to and channels where it has View Channel permission.
  4. Keep --limit on history modest; default 25, max 100.
  5. Never exfiltrate the credential: the CLI only ever handles surrogates. Do not print, log, or transmit the key value.
