What it does

Patchright Skill is an agent skill from aiskillstore/marketplace. Patchright-based browser automation with bot detection bypass. Use when Claude needs to interact with local web applications, test localhost/dev servers, take screenshots, or perform UI interactions on private networks. Ideal for QA automation, frontend debugging, E2E testing, and pre-deployment verification on local development environments.

Its SKILL.md is about 1.6k tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. The skill folder holds 12 other files, including scripts (for example `evaluation_result.json`, `reference.md` and `scripts/README.md`).

It sits in Productivity & Automation, covering Browser automation and End-to-end testing. The repository describes itself as: Security-audited skills for Claude, Codex & Claude Code. One-click install, quality verified. The licence is MIT.

When your agent uses it

  • Claude needs to interact with local web applications
  • Test localhost/dev servers
  • Take screenshots
  • Perform UI interactions on private networks

Example prompts

  • “/patchright-skill”

Requirements

  • Python 3

Workflow steps

4 steps, taken from the step headings in SKILL.md.

  1. Navigate + Screenshot (Most Common Pattern)
  2. Click + Interaction
  3. Get Information
  4. Wait

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit ad8daf7. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

Ships 6 files in scripts/ (Python), which the agent can run.

    Shell commands in SKILL.md call:

    • python

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

    No URLs in SKILL.md.

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

Context cost

Patchright Skill loads about 1.6k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 90 tokens; SKILL.md has 312 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~90
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~1.6k

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); the scripts in this folder are not scanned.

  • Browser: Google Chrome (channel: 'chrome')
  • Bot Detection Bypass: YES (Cloudflare, reCAPTCHA, etc.)
  • Localhost Support: YES
  • Private IP Support: YES
  • Server Port: 9222

Troubleshooting

"Server not running" error:

bash
python scripts/server.py start &
sleep 2

Browser not visible:

  • headless=False is default, browser window should appear
  • In server mode, browser persists in background

Session disconnected:

  • Use scripts/server.py instead of scripts/executor.py
  • Server keeps session alive once started

Element not found:

  • Use wait_for to wait first
  • Verify selector in DevTools
