canvas-layoutRearranges the nodes of an existing Obsidian Canvas with grid, dagre, radial, force-directed or linear layouts while keeping groups intact.
Existing Obsidian Canvas nodes get re-laid out with one of six spatial approaches: grid for galleries and mood boards, dagre for flowcharts and org charts, radial for mind maps, force-directed for knowledge graphs, linear for timelines, or auto-detect, which looks at edge density, node types and connection patterns. Group membership is preserved, positions snap to a 20px grid and zones are refitted around their content.
The agent identifies the target canvas, picks the algorithm from your wording or from auto-detect, and confirms before applying, offering a backup. It then runs scripts/canvas_layout.py, reports how many nodes moved and how many groups were refitted, and checks the result with scripts/canvas_validate.py. Options include columns and sort order for grids, direction for dagre, a center node for radial, iterations for force layouts, an axis for linear and a --dry-run preview. Canvases with more than 30 nodes are handed to a dedicated canvas-layout agent.

Obsidian Canvas Re-Layout loads about 866 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 113 tokens; SKILL.md has 358 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

Obsidian Canvas Re-Layout fits situations like: untangling a canvas whose nodes overlap or sprawl; turning a pile of images into a tidy grid gallery; arranging flowchart or org chart nodes left to right or top to bottom; spreading a mind map outward from a hub node.
Run `npx skills add AgriciDaniel/claude-canvas --skill canvas-layout -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/canvas-layout in AgriciDaniel/claude-canvas) into .claude/skills/canvas-layout in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.

Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Obsidian Canvas Re-Layout needs the command-line tools its instructions call (python3). Our summary lists: Python 3 to run the layout and validation scripts; An Obsidian vault containing the canvas file.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Obsidian Canvas Re-Layout is published under the MIT licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 866 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 3.5k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
