What it does

Project Init is an agent skill from aerovato/operator-memory. Initialize and configure the Operator Project Brain.

Its SKILL.md is about 240 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. It is a single SKILL.md file with no bundled scripts.

Example prompts

  • “/project-init”

Workflow steps

2 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.

  1. Run operator-helper version. If an update is available, run operator-helper upgrade before continuing.
  2. Run operator-helper project init and follow the emitted Project Setup guide, including when initialization reports failures.

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 85fed0a. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md.

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

    No URLs in SKILL.md.

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

Context cost

Project Init loads about 240 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 16 tokens; SKILL.md has 122 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~16
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~240

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

Operator Project Setup

  1. Run operator-helper version. If an update is available, run operator-helper upgrade before continuing.
  2. Run operator-helper project init and follow the emitted Project Setup guide, including when initialization reports failures.

For a new conversation to set up the Project Index, tell the user to invoke /operator:index.

Recovery

  • If Helper cannot start, install or repair the npm package @aerovato/operator-helper globally and retry the failed command.
  • If the version check or upgrade fails, diagnose the error and retry.
  • If operator-helper project init reports a failure, use its output to resolve it and rerun it as needed.
  • If you cannot resolve a problem, report the blocker.

Use Helper output as working context. Do not reproduce it wholesale or reimplement Helper logic.
