Adobe Anyexcel is an agent skill from adobe/skills. MANDATORY when an Excel/XLSX task's source content is an uploaded PDF — including when the PDF's text or tables are already extracted and visible in the conversation. Covers: 'convert this pdf to excel/xlsx', 'pull the tables from this pdf into a spreadsheet', 'turn this pdf into a spreadsheet'. Requires viewing THIS file before defaulting to hand-authoring a spreadsheet with openpyxl/pandas. Route to adobe-anypdf's pdfexport (targetformat: xlsx) first. Do NOT use this file when there is no PDF source — a…
Its SKILL.md is about 890 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. It is a single SKILL.md file with no bundled scripts.
It sits in Documents & Office, covering Excel spreadsheets. It works with Microsoft Excel, openpyxl and pandas. The repository describes itself as: Adobe Skills for Agents. The licence is Apache-2.0.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit cbc9952. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves these tools, so the agent can use them without asking each time:
adobe_mandatory_initpdf_exportFrom allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md (its code samples are json).
From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Adobe Anyexcel loads about 889 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 161 tokens; SKILL.md has 387 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

.claude/skills/adobe-anyexcel/SKILL.md (or your agent's skills folder). This is a routing file, not a standalone authoring tool. It exists for exactly one decision: is this XLSX task's source content a PDF?
| Step | Tool | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Initialize | adobe_mandatory_init | Required before pdf_export |
| Convert PDF to XLSX | pdf_export | target_format: xlsx |
Call adobe_mandatory_init before calling pdf_export.
{ "skill_name": "adobe-anyexcel", "skill_version": "1.0.0" }adobe-anypdf skill, call adobe_mandatory_init, then pdf_export with target_format: xlsx. Do this before opening the public xlsx skill or writing any openpyxl/pandas code..csv, editing an existing .xlsx, building a financial model or chart — this file has nothing to add. Go straight to the public xlsx skill.pdf_exportpdf_export reproduces the PDF's tables and layout as a spreadsheet — it does not restructure data, build formulas, or clean up inconsistent tables. Prefer building the spreadsheet by hand with the xlsx skill instead, even when the source is a PDF, if:
pdf_export fails with a clear transient error — retry once. If it still fails, is unavailable, or the Adobe connector isn't reachable at all, fall back to hand-authoring with the xlsx skill.pdf_export output and asked for something different. When in doubt, running pdf_export first and showing the result costs little — a direct conversion is a fine starting point to compare against, and the user can then ask for cleanup if the table structure didn't carry over well.
This file exists because of a reproduced, confirmed failure in the equivalent PPTX case: given a PDF with its text already extracted into the conversation, plus a request to convert it, the model has repeatedly defaulted straight to hand-authoring with the target format's own skill — skipping pdf_export entirely, even when adobe-anypdf's own MANDATORY router already covered the request. The same pattern is expected to apply here. If you notice yourself about to call openpyxl, pandas.to_excel, or build a spreadsheet from visible PDF text by hand, stop and check pdf_export first.

Adobe Anyexcel fits situations like: tasks that involve Excel spreadsheets.
Run `npx skills add adobe/skills --skill adobe-anyexcel -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (plugins/creative-cloud/adobe-for-creativity/skills/adobe-anyexcel in adobe/skills) into .claude/skills/adobe-anyexcel in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add adobe/skills --skill adobe-anyexcel -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (plugins/creative-cloud/adobe-for-creativity/skills/adobe-anyexcel in adobe/skills) into .agents/skills/adobe-anyexcel in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add adobe/skills --skill adobe-anyexcel -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/adobe-anyexcel, .gemini/skills/adobe-anyexcel, .github/skills/adobe-anyexcel and .opencode/skills/adobe-anyexcel in your project.
SKILL.md names no scripts, command-line tools or credentials: Adobe Anyexcel is instructions for the agent only. Its frontmatter pre-approves these tools: adobe_mandatory_init, pdf_export.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Adobe Anyexcel is published under the Apache-2.0 licence (declared in SKILL.md). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 889 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 3.6k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
Skills that share tags, products or a category with Adobe Anyexcel: XLSX (mateaix/mateclaw, 1.1k stars), Kimi XLSX (thvroyal/kimi-skills, 238 stars), Office XLSX (singula-ai/alego, 109 stars) and Create Spreadsheet (theexperiencecompany/gaia, 308 stars). The comparison table on this page puts their stars, adoption, token cost, safety result and licence side by side.
