open-supermarketsSearches, compares and fills baskets across supermarkets in several countries, with delivery slots, checkout and nutrition data, as a CLI, MCP server or skill.
This skill automates online grocery shopping across supermarkets in the UK, Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Hungary, the US and Canada. It can search products, compare prices across stores, manage a basket, list and book delivery slots and run checkout, and it enriches products with Open Food Facts nutrition and allergen data. It works as a command-line tool, an MCP server over stdio or an agent skill, with a dedicated skill file per supermarket.
The MCP tools cover login and status, search, compare, basket view, add, remove, update and clear, delivery slots, booking, checkout, orders, favourites, categories and browsing, and checkout defaults to a dry run. Coverage differs by retailer: the Ocado file notes that slot booking and checkout are not covered, and the Hungarian Tesco file covers search and basket only. Setup uses npm install and a Playwright Chromium install, and the compatibility note asks for Node.js 18 or newer and TypeScript, with Playwright only for providers that need browser login.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit aff6880. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves these tools, so the agent can use them without asking each time:
Bash({baseDir}/node:*)Bash(supermarket:*)Bash(npm:run:supermarket:*)From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
Ships 1 file in scripts/, which the agent can run.
Shell commands in SKILL.md call:
npmnpxnodeFrom the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md. Its commands use npm and npx, which can reach the network depending on how they are called.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Node.js 18+, TypeScript. Playwright only for browser-auth providers. Delivery areas vary by retailer.
From compatibility in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
Open Supermarkets loads about 1.4k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 74 tokens; SKILL.md has 290 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); the scripts in this folder are not scanned.
The full file from abracadabra50/open-supermarkets at commit aff6880, republished under its MIT licence (© abracadabra50). 290 words, ~1,354 tokens.

Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Open Supermarkets needs the command-line tools its instructions call (npm, npx and node). Our summary lists: Node.js 18 or newer and TypeScript; Playwright with Chromium, for providers that need browser login; An account with each supermarket you want to use. Its frontmatter pre-approves these tools: Bash({baseDir}/node:*), Bash(supermarket:*), Bash(npm:run:supermarket:*). Compatibility (from SKILL.md): Node.js 18+, TypeScript. Playwright only for browser-auth providers. Delivery areas vary by retailer..
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Its commands use npm and npx, which can reach the network depending on how they are called. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. The check reads SKILL.md only: the scripts in the folder are not scanned, so read them before running anything.
Open Supermarkets is published under the MIT licence (declared in SKILL.md). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 1.4k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 5.4k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
