masm-explicit-stack-interfaceA skill your agent uses when defining the interface for a new MASM procedure — keep its inputs explicit on the stack and its outputs limited to values it produces.
Masm Explicit Stack Interface is an agent skill from 0xMiden/protocol. Use when defining the interface for a new MASM procedure — keep its inputs explicit on the stack and its outputs limited to values it produces.
Its SKILL.md is about 720 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. It is a single SKILL.md file with no bundled scripts.
It sits in Development. It works with Rust. The repository describes itself as: Core components of the Miden protocol. The licence is MIT.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 3a8215e. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md (its code samples are masm).
From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Masm Explicit Stack Interface loads about 716 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 43 tokens; SKILL.md has 267 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

.claude/skills/masm-explicit-stack-interface/SKILL.md (or your agent's skills folder).A MASM procedure's inputs should arrive on the stack, named in its Inputs: doc block. Do not design a procedure that reads its inputs from a fixed memory location that the caller must populate beforehand.
Use memory I/O only when:
For everything else — counts, indices, single words, small structs — pass on the stack.
Hidden memory inputs make the procedure's signature a lie — a reader of Inputs: [ptr] can't tell what's behind the pointer or what the caller had to set up, and the real contract drifts out of sync in prose. Stack inputs are typed by the doc, testable in isolation, and trap if the shape is wrong.
A procedure's Outputs: carry only values the procedure computes. An input the procedure consumes unchanged is dropped inside the procedure; a caller that still needs it dups it before the call. A modified input (an advanced pointer, a decremented counter) is a produced value and may be returned.
Rust code calls MASM procedures through generated bindings that follow the C ABI: every return value is written to memory through a pointer. An echoed input costs that store on every Rust call, while the Rust caller already holds its own copy of the parameter (see #1717). The few cycles a MASM caller saves by reusing an echoed value do not outweigh this.
# Good
#! Inputs: [ASSET_ID, ASSET_VALUE, note_idx]
#! Outputs: []
pub proc add_asset(asset: Asset, note_idx: u16)
# ... uses values directly from the stack
end
# Bad: implicit input via memory location the caller had to populate
#! Inputs: []
#! Outputs: []
pub proc add_asset
mem_load.PENDING_NOTE_PTR # caller had to set this first
mem_loadw.PENDING_ASSET_PTR
# ...
end
# Bad: echoes its inputs back to the caller
#! Inputs: [ASSET_ID, ASSET_VALUE, note_idx]
#! Outputs: [ASSET_ID, ASSET_VALUE, note_idx]
pub proc add_asset(asset: Asset, note_idx: u16) -> (Asset, u16)
# ...
end
# OK: the exception — data too large for the stack lives in memory, and the
# pointer to it is an explicit stack input named in the doc block
#! Inputs: [proof_ptr, leaf_index, ROOT]
#! Outputs: [is_valid]
proc verify_merkle_proof
# the full proof (many words) was written to memory by the caller;
# only the pointer, index, and root travel on the stack
# ...

SKILL.md names no scripts, command-line tools or credentials: Masm Explicit Stack Interface is instructions for the agent only.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Masm Explicit Stack Interface is published under the MIT licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 716 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 2.9k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
